Who is carrying the most weight?
What is her role? She is acting as a seat for Person 3.
Where does her weight go? While she is carrying a large portion of Person 3’s weight, she isn’t bearing it alone. If you look closely, her legs are extended outward, and her feet are being held up by Person 1.
Because her body is spread out, she passes some of her own weight—and the weight of the person on top of her—down to the men below her. She is definitely carrying a heavy load, but she isn’t the base of the structure.
Person 1: The Distraction
Now let’s look at Person 1, the young man in the grey hoodie sitting on the ground.
If you look at his face, he looks like he is struggling the most. He has a strained expression, his teeth are clenched, and he is using both hands to hold up Person 2’s feet. It is very easy to look at him and think, “Wow, he must be carrying the most weight because he looks so stressed!”
But let’s look at the physics of his situation:
He is sitting directly on the grass.
He is only holding the feet and lower legs of Person 2.
While holding someone’s legs in that position can cause muscle fatigue (which explains his angry or strained expression), he is actually only supporting a small fraction of the total weight. The vast majority of the weight from the people above is bypassing him completely.
Person 4: The True Foundation
Finally, we come to Person 4, the man in the teal shirt.
