The silent signs of arterial blockages you can’t ignore

Fatigue caused by arterial blockages is profound, persistent, and does not disappear with rest. It is not like everyday weariness: it is total exhaustion, which can make even the simplest tasks difficult to perform.

When blood circulation is insufficient, muscles and organs receive less oxygen and nutrients. The body then enters “energy-saving” mode, reserving available resources for vital organs. This fatigue can develop insidiously, be attributed to stress or age, but it does not improve with sleep. If left untreated, it eventually severely limits quality of life.

4. Pain or cramps in the legs

Leg pain while walking—known as claudication—is often caused by peripheral artery disease (PAD). The arteries in the legs, narrowed by plaque, no longer deliver enough oxygen to the muscles during exercise. This leads to a buildup of metabolic waste products such as lactic acid, causing cramps, pain, or a feeling of heaviness.

These pains usually disappear with rest, but can worsen as the arteries become more blocked. Their location (calves, thighs, buttocks) can also indicate where the blockages are. PAD is also an indicator of atherosclerosis elsewhere in the body, including in the heart and brain.

5. Sudden nausea or sweating
