Scabies is treatable, but it requires prescription medication — usually a topical cream applied to the entire body. In some cases, oral medication is prescribed.
Equally important is washing all clothing, bedding, and towels in hot water and cleaning frequently touched surfaces. Close contacts may also need treatment, even if they do not yet show symptoms.
Without proper treatment, scabies can spread quickly and lead to secondary skin infections caused by excessive scratching.
Listen to Your Body
Persistent itching is not something to ignore — especially when it doesn’t respond to common allergy treatments.
While many cases of itchy skin are harmless and temporary, ongoing or worsening symptoms deserve medical attention. Early diagnosis can prevent discomfort, complications, and spreading the condition to others.
What seems like “just an allergy” may sometimes be something more.
If itching is severe, spreading, or keeping you awake at night, it’s time to consult a healthcare professional.
Your skin often tells a story — make sure you’re listening.
