Carley Fortune is all in for her first screen adaptation.
In an exclusive interview, the author spoke with PEOPLE about seeing her 2022 debut romance novel, Every Summer After, adapted into a Prime Video series called Every Year After.
The story follows Persephone “Percy” Fraser, who spends her summers in Barry’s Bay, Canada. While there, she becomes friends with Sam Florek, a boy who lives next door. After a betrayal, Percy and Sam become estranged, until they reunite again as adults — and face their true feelings for one another.

“I am a fan,” Fortune said of the eight-episode series. “I think it does exactly what an adaptation of a book that has a fan base should do, which is that it honors the story. It has the heart and soul of the book. It feels like the book.”
