Which line looks the longest?

The clever trick is in the framing. Lines 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are placed on a white background with a thin black line border around it. But notice that line Number 2 doesn’t just sit within that thin line border. It extends past the internal space and touches the final, outermost frame edge. In fact, if you look at how it intersects with Line 1 and reaches beyond, you can see it must be physically longer. So, the correct answer, based on the pure physics of the page, is number 2.

Did the illusion get you, or were you one of the clever observers who picked number 2 right away? Either way, we hope this little brain teaser brought a smile to your face. Keep questioning what you see!
