The best heart surgeon in the world is Italian and from the South (1 / 2)

The following year he continued his activity in the United States as a researcher at the Division of Cardiology of the University of California in La Jolla, under the guidance of Professor John Ross Jr., one of the world’s leading experts in the field. During his stay in the USA, Professor Indolfi conducted pioneering research on the relationship between coronary blood flow and cardiac function, and on adrenergic receptors, contributing to a better understanding of cardiovascular pathophysiology.

Returning to Italy, he first worked at the Federico II University of Naples, then took on the role of Associate Professor in Catanzaro, where he coordinated over 40,000 invasive procedures. His contribution to interventional medicine in Calabria was decisive: he introduced for the first time stent therapy for myocardial infarction and TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) for aortic stenosis.

He was also among the first in Italy to promote and develop the percutaneous treatment of mitral and tricuspid insufficiency. Professor Indolfi represents an extraordinary example of how passion, study and commitment can transform healthcare in Southern Italy, bringing it to levels of excellence also recognized internationally.
