His hair slightly messy.
The same serious face as always.
He climbed aboard without running.
He looked at me for just a second.
“Good morning, Mr. Miguel.”
“Good morning, Dani.”
Nothing else.
No smile.
No gesture.
Nothing that would draw attention.
And yet, I don’t know why, that simple “good morning” relieved me more than many entire conversations I’ve had with adults.
He went to his usual seat.
Halfway down the bus.
By the window.
Backpack on his knees.
