This flan isn’t just a dessert; it’s a trip back to childhood. With its smooth texture, vanilla aroma, and glistening caramel, this homemade flan, like grandma used to make, becomes the star of any table. Perfect for ending a family lunch, surprising your guests, or simply indulging in a sweet treat made with love.
INGREDIENTS:
1 liter of whole milk
1 cup of sugar
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
½ cup of sugar (for the caramel)
STEP-BY-STEP PREPARATION:
PREPARE THE CARAMEL:
Place 1/2 cup of sugar in a pan over medium heat. Stir until melted and golden brown. Quickly pour into the bottom of the mold and spread evenly before it hardens.
FLAN MIXTURE:
In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until well combined. Gradually add the milk along with the vanilla. Mix gently until you obtain a smooth mixture.
BAKING IN A WATER BATH:
Pour the mixture over the caramel in the mold. Place the mold inside a tray with hot water and bake at 180°C for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
COOL AND SERVE:
Let cool completely, then refrigerate for a few hours. Carefully unmold and enjoy this sweet and nostalgic treat.
