When a Parking Note Backfired in the Most Surprising Way

A note appeared on our windshield one quiet morning, boldly written: “One car per house!” My husband and I stared in disbelief. We lived on a peaceful suburban street where parking had never been a problem, and both of our cars were legally registered and parked as usual. At first, we laughed it off, assuming it was just a cranky neighbor playing a joke or venting frustration. We tossed the note aside, thinking little of it, and carried on with our week.

Three days later, the humor vanished. Heavy engines roared outside. Through the window, we saw a tow truck lifting my car, and another preparing to tow my husband’s. Shocked, we ran out to ask what was happening. The driver explained a complaint had been filed, claiming our vehicles were illegally parked. Across the street, our neighbor stood on her porch, arms crossed, wearing a proud, satisfied smile. Her handwriting matched the note perfectly, and it was clear she had orchestrated the situation.
