Vision test: How many dogs do you see? What your answer really says about your mental age

Have you ever felt like you had the mind of a teenager in an adult’s body… or, conversely, that you were much wiser than your age would suggest? It’s not necessarily a matter of years on the clock. There’s another, far more revealing measure: mental age. And sometimes, a single image is enough to reveal everything. Ready to discover what your brain is really saying about you?

Actual age vs mental age: what’s the difference?

We all know our chronological age—the one on our ID card that increases every birthday, whether we like it or not. But mental age is another story. It corresponds to our level of cognitive and intellectual development, independent of our date of birth.

In other words, two people of the same age can have completely different mental profiles. One might be analytical and composed, the other creative and spontaneous. These differences are influenced by our environment, our culture, our life experiences… and even our way of perceiving images.

This is where this little visual test comes in, as amusing as it is surprisingly revealing.

The test: How many dogs do you see?

Look carefully at the image below. Don’t rush. Take your time to look closely, then count the number of dogs you can identify.

Do you have your answer? Then here’s what it reveals.

The results: your mental profile at a glance

You counted 4 dogs

Your mental age is between 20 and 25. You are a calm person who doesn’t like to complicate things unnecessarily. Creativity is your strong point, and literature is probably one of your passions. You progress at your own pace, and that’s entirely to your advantage.
