What should you do if you see someone having a heart attack?
If you notice someone exhibiting symptoms consistent with a heart attack, call emergency services immediately.
While we wait for help:
- Check if the person is conscious.
- Check if you are breathing normally.
- Check for signs of movement.
If the person is not breathing normally and shows no signs of circulation, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) .
Perform quick, firm chest compressions at a rate of approximately 100 to 120 compressions per minute .
If you are not trained in CPR, perform only continuous chest compressions until emergency services arrive.
If you have the proper training, follow the full CPR protocol, including opening the airway and rescue breathing as instructed.
Recognizing symptoms quickly and acting promptly can significantly increase the chances of receiving early treatment and appropriate support.
