How Many Eggs? A Simple Puzzle with a Clever Twist

At first glance, this puzzle seems straightforward. We are shown four chickens with numbers beside them: 30 eggs, 10 eggs, 5 eggs, and 15 eggs. The question asks: “How many eggs did all the hens lay in total?”

Most people quickly add the numbers:
30 + 10 + 5 + 15 = 60 eggs.

But that answer is incorrect.

The trick lies in careful observation. Not all the birds shown are hens. The last one is actually a rooster—and roosters do not lay eggs.

That means we must exclude the 15 eggs.
