Medicine cabinets are especially private. Looking inside can reveal sensitive information about someone’s health and personal life. Unless your host specifically tells you to take something from the cabinet, it is better to ask them directly if you need medicine.
Valuables, collectibles, photographs, artwork, and sentimental decorations should also be admired without touching. Something that looks ordinary to you may have significant emotional or financial value to the homeowner. Keeping your hands off prevents accidental damage and awkward moments.
