At first glance, this puzzle looks very simple.
You only need to answer one question.
How many balls are in this picture?
That sounds easy enough.
Most people immediately begin counting the balls they can clearly see.
They start at the top.
Then they move from left to right.
Soon they realize something unexpected.
Some balls are completely visible.
Some are only partly visible.
Others seem to disappear behind the balls in front of them.
This is exactly what makes the puzzle interesting.
Your eyes naturally focus on the objects that are easiest to see.
But that does not always tell the whole story.
Before you begin counting, take a slow look at the entire picture.
Notice the shape of the stack.
The balls are not scattered randomly.
They appear to be arranged in layers inside a square container.
